Mayor’s Announcement - Affordable Housing

I would like to take this opportunity to announce a new affordable housing project that I have been working on for the past two years with a developer and our planning department. The project will be a new twelve unit seniors apartment building with nine affordable units.

On March 8, 2017, the Community Services Committee recommended to County Council that the Warden and Chief Administrative Officer be authorized to award Blackrock Properties Equity Inc. the contract to provide nine units of affordable housing at a cost of $1.2 million with a total project build out cost of approximately $2.1 million. Occupancy for this project is anticipated in June 2018.
